Sydney IVF has developed and continues to improve its range of well researched culture media for the production of higher quality better implanting embryos.
The SIVF medium suite has been specially developed to complement our low oxygen and use of MINCS (Cook Group) or Mini incubators that maintain an optimal temperature and oxygen level for the embryo to develop. The suite also is designed to take holistic approach from oocyte pickup and sperm collection to freezing / vitrification.
The first generation of the Sydney IVF culture medium suite was developed in house and the resultant product dramatically increased pregnancy rates following IVF. The embryo media suite is licensed to Cook Australia and, through them, to the US parent company; Cook Group Inc. (Bloomington, Indiana) and is FDA approved. The SIVF Medium suite commands a significant share of the world wide IVF culture medium market. The medium suite is sold in over 50 countries and market penetration varies from 30-40% in Australia, Japan, Israel and Scandinavia just to name a few.
The second generation media suite will be released to the international market by Cook Australia in 2007 - 2008. This second generation medium suite contains a number of modifications that aim to reduce oxidative stress, enhance metabolism and reduce the break-down of amino acids. These changes in formulation have resulted in an increased development rate (especially to the 8 cell stage), increased pregnancy rates and increased shelf-life of the suite.
In testing this new formulation we undertook a new method of total media testing which encompassed: growth, development, genetic analysis, epigenetic analysis and biochemical analysis.
