Dr Geoffrey Reid is a gynaecologist in practice in Central Sydney, South West Sydney and the Southern Highlands of NSW. He is the Director of Gynaecological Endoscopy at Liverpool Hospital, and has appointments at St Luke's Hospital - Potts Point, Sydney Southwest Hospital - Liverpool, Southern Highlands Private Hospital - Bowral, John James Memorial Hospital - Canberra and The Wesley Hospital - Brisbane.
Dr Reid graduated from Monash University in 1975, and then spent 4 years working with the Royal Australian Air Force. He completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in Melbourne before spending three years in the UK, the last two as Clinical Lecturer with the University of Manchester.
Dr Reid is involved in the training of doctors at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is a lecturer at the University of NSW and is frequently involved in educational activities both within Australia and overseas. He has been an invited lecturer and surgeon in many Asian countries including China, India, Singapore and Malaysia.
His major interest is the treatment of women with endometriosis. More recently he has returned to the treatment of couples requiring Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART/IVF), a service that many women with endometriosis require. He is accredited to provide these services in association with Sydney IVF.
Dr Reid is an executive committee member of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society, a member of the World Endometriosis Society, a member of the American Association of Gynaecological Laparoscopists and a member of the International Society of Gynaecological Endoscopy. He has presented over 100 papers at various Society meetings and is widely published especially in the field of laparoscopy and endometriosis.
