Vasectomy reversals
Microsurgical vasovasostomy is a unique and superior surgical technique now offered by Dr Derek Lok at our Sydney City location.
The advantages of this technique over conventional vasectomy reversal procedures
include:
- minimally invasive approach
- meticulous double layer surgical technique using very fine sutures
- small incisions (1-2 cm) with no need for a drain
- rapid recovery with no need for an overnight stay in the hospital
- reduced pain and postoperative complications
- significantly reduced cost.
Our aim is to help a couple achieve a healthy live birth. This not only depends on the success of the surgery, but also the proper appraisal of post microsurgical vasovasostomy sperm function. This can be affected by the presence of anti-sperm antibodies and the individual's patient history and can be impacted by the female partner's fertility factors.
As a specialised fertility unit, Sydney IVF has the expertise in assessing the fertility of the couple (not just the male partner) to provide patients with an unbiased comparison of the likely success rate of the two approaches available to them (IVF or surgical vasectomy reversal) and to assist them make the right choice.
Sperm extraction and freezing services can be provided at the same time as the microsurgical vasovasostomy if necessary.
