Dr Kristi Jones

KRISTI JONES is one of three clinical geneticists consulting to Sydney IVF, providing information for people considering pre-implantation genetic diagnosis and consultation for genetic issues that have arisen during the IVF process.
Kristi graduated from The University of Sydney in 1990, and went on to complete her specialty training in paediatrics, and then in clinical genetics. Her post-graduate qualifications include: Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians, Clinical Geneticist of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA), and a Doctorate (PhD). Since 2000, Kristi has been a Staff Specialist in Clinical Genetics at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead and Consultant Clinical Geneticist at Westmead Hospital, Sydney. Her practice there covers a broad cross section of genetic conditions in both adults and children, and Kristi has a particular interest in neurogenetics.
Kristi’s current research interests stem from her PhD, and focus on the clinical and genetic diagnosis of muscular dystrophies and therapeutic trials for genetic muscle disease. She has an ongoing commitment to teaching at all levels. She lectures in genetics at the Masters of Reproductive Medicine (The University of Sydney), and is a Clinical Lecturer at The University of Sydney’s Department of Paediatrics and Child Health. She also has a special interest in community education, presenting regularly to parent/family and community groups, both in and out of the hospital setting.
Kristi has been the recipient of numerous research grants and scholarships, from bodies including the Muscular Dystrophy Association of NSW and the National Health & Medical Research Council. Kristi is a member of the Human Genetics Society of Australasia, and the Australasian Association of Clinical Geneticists. She has contributed to almost 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals and regularly presents at scientific meetings.
Kristi also has three young children, who help to keep her life in perspective.
